Jury Gets Katrina Burned Body Case
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A jury is deliberating in the trial for five current or former New Orleans police officers charged in the death of a man who was fatally shot before his body was burned in Hurricane Katrina's aftermath.
The jury of five men and seven women heard 12 days of testimony before beginning deliberations on Tuesday.
A former officer, David Warren, is charged with shooting 31-year-old Henry Glover without justification outside a strip mall on Sept. 2, 2005.
Lt. Dwayne Scheuermann and Officer Gregory McRae are charged with burning Glover's body and beating men who brought the dying man to a makeshift police compound in search of help.
Lt. Travis McCabe and former Lt. Robert Italiano are charged with writing and submitting a false report on the shooting.
