La. House Passes Cigarette Tax Legislation
The Louisiana House has voted to renew a four-cent portion of the state’s 36-cent per pack cigarette tax that is set to expire in July 2012. A provision was added to the legislation requiring the funds from the renewed tax be used to offset health care costs in the state. The legislation now moves to the Senate. Governor Jindal says he’ll veto it.
