RUSTON, La. (AP) — The University of Louisiana System has given the go-ahead for Louisiana Tech to start developing a major expansion to its athletic complex.

Plans call for the facility to include a sports medicine center, a strength and conditioning complex and an academic complex. The facility will be built near Joe Aillet Stadium on the Louisiana Tech campus.

Officials say the next phase will include solicitation of designs.

Athletics Director Bruce Van De Velde says enough private funds have been raised for the next phase. University officials started a campaign to raise $20 million for the facility in June.
