Lafayette's Parks and Recreations Department is looking for fee increases for facility rentals and athletic programs that could bring in as much as $180,000 a year to help close the budget gap.

The vote is planned for October 16th and the City-Parish Council will also be also considering asking Lafayette voters to increase the recreation property tax.

Gerald Boudreaux, Parks and Recreation Director, says that the department has to either generate more revenue or cut back on services.

The department's youth athletic programs range from $50 to $75 per team, and the new totals are $150 to $200 per team, depending on the sport or age group.
