Lafayette Motorcyclist Identified, Dies from Injuries Sustained in Crash
Our local community is mourning the loss of 18-year-old Karson Estilette, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a tragic motorcycle crash on Thursday (Sep. 19) in the 1700 block of W. University Ave. Despite the hopes and prayers of many in Lafayette, Estilette passed away on Friday (Sep. 20), leaving family, friends, and the motorcycle community heartbroken.
The accident, which occurred around 3:20 PM, involved Estilette’s motorcycle and a truck making a left turn onto West Simcoe Street. Preliminary investigations indicate that the motorcycle was traveling in the outside lane when the crash occurred. The driver of the truck, who has been cited for failure to yield, provided a breath sample showing a blood alcohol concentration of 0.00%.
Emergency responders rushed Estilette to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Sadly, despite the community's hope for a miracle, police announced his passing just a day later.
Friends and family describe Karson as a bright, compassionate young man with a passion for life and a loving spirit. He was well-known for his infectious laughter and the warmth he brought to every interaction. His untimely death has left a void that will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
We offer our condolences to Karson's family and loved ones as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
