LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- One person has been arrested following a bizarre series of events early Sunday morning during which four cars were damaged and four pedestrians were struck.

Lafayette Police say just after 2 a.m., they responded to a report of a major crash at the Frozen Sun Daquiris on Verot School Road.

Witnesses tell police that 30-year-old Kenneth Viator of Abbeville had been in an argument with some people outside the bar. When he tried to leave the parking lot in his truck, though, police say Viator crashed into four parked cars and ran over the four people.

Police say four of those pedestrians were taken to area hospitals in critical condition. The fourth person refused treatment on the scene.

Viator submitted to a voluntary breath sample at the police department, officers say, and he was subsequently booked on charges of first offense OWI and first degree vehicle negligent injury.
