Lafayette Police Give Traffic Advice
Well today is the day that Lafayette Parish Public school students are heading back to classes.
With that in mind and with that change for drivers, Lafayette Police officers want to remind drivers that speed limits, especially in school zones, will be strictly enforced.
Lafayette Police Department Spokesman Bridgette Dugas says not going over the speed limit in school zones is for the protection of students.
She says officers will also be enforcing those school zones marked as "Hands Free," which prohibits drivers from talking, texting, or using their device for social networking.
Police ask that you not be a distracted driver, that you have patience, and take more time getting to your destination each day now that school is back in session.
