Lafayette Roadway Set to Close for Construction of Louisiana’s First Buc-ee’s
LAFAYETTE, La. – Construction for Louisiana’s first Buc-ee’s is officially underway in Lafayette, and with it comes a temporary road closure that will impact local traffic for several weeks.
According to the Lafayette Consolidated Government, East Pont Des Mouton Road will be closed between Louisiana Avenue and Shadow Bluff Drive beginning Monday, March 24, through Sunday, April 7. The closure is necessary for utility infrastructure work that supports the large-scale Buc-ee’s development.
Detour routes will be clearly marked, directing drivers to use Louisiana Avenue and Shadow Bluff Drive. While through traffic will be restricted, local access will be maintained for residents living on the north side of East Pont Des Mouton Road.
Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling near the construction zone and to allow additional travel time while the detours are in place.
The new Buc-ee’s, planned for a 42-acre site at the northeast corner of I-10 and Louisiana Avenue, marks the convenience chain’s first location in Louisiana. Known for its massive footprint, multiple rows of fuel pumps, and delicious retail offerings, Buc-ee’s is expected to bring significant traffic and economic activity to the area.
Construction of the Lafayette Buc-ee’s is projected to be completed by mid-2026.
