LAFAYETTE, La.(AP) — When the Lafayette Parish School Board meets Thursday to continue talks on the 2014-15 budget, there will be a new item pertaining to J.W. Faulk Elementary.

Superintendent Pat Cooper tells The Advertiser the proposals for Faulk include adding a parent liaison, another assistant principal and a full-time nurse.

A cost estimate was not immediately available Monday, but board member Shelton Cobb said he thinks any proposals might have a hard time getting board approval, especially in a year with a projected $18 million deficit.

However, Cobb said he thinks Faulk is in desperate need of new resources.

Cooper had hoped to present proposals on how to improve Faulk to the board in late May, but it was delayed a couple for finalization and cost estimates.
