Louisiana Congressman To Join President Obama On Trip To Africa
President Obama begins his six-day trip to Africa today, and he'll bring with him the only Democrat in the Louisiana delegation - Rep. Cedric Richmond, according to this article.
While in Africa on July 23-28, President Obama and Rep. Richmond will make stops in Nairobi, Kenya and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where the President will attend bilateral meetings with the government and meet with African Union leaders.
"This visit will follow the president's travel to Kenya, which will build on the success of the 2014 U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit by strengthening ties with our African partners and highlighting America's longstanding commitment to investing in Ethiopia," White House spokesman Eric Schultz told reporters in June.
Richmond has served as a U.S. Representative since 2010. Previously, he won terms as a Louisiana state representative in the 101st District in 1999, 2003 and 2007.
