Louisiana Gets Set For Second Amendment Tax Holiday
The Louisiana Second Amendment sales tax holiday starts up on Friday, and it will provide hunters and other gun enthusiasts to purchase their hunting and gun related purchases without having to pay both the state and local sales taxes.
According to Byron Henderson, spokesperson for the Louisiana Department of Revenue, exemptions will apply to guns, ammunition, archery supplies, hunting apparel, and many other items. It will not, however, apply to pet food, but it does apply to animal feed marketed for consumption by game animals.
Also not eligible for the tax break:
- Toy guns
- Vessels or off road vehicles used as children's toys
- Hunting dogs or any other animal used for hunting
- Purchases made by a business or for business purposes
