Lafayette representative Page Cortez joined KPEL this morning for another edition of "Acadiana Live" where morning show hosts Bernadette Lee and Ken Romero speak with local lawmakers.  Cortez says the biggest news happened in the earlier session this year.

According to Cortez, he believes the most significant thing that has occured in the Louisiana Legislature this year has to do with the session prior to this one.  Cortez says the special session on redistricting made it possible for Louisiana to get pre-approval of redistricted districts for the first time ever.

Cortez says the Justice Department, so far, has given Louisiana a thumbs up for the amount of minority/majority districts, and the way the districts look.  He explains the significance during "Acadiana Live".
