Since much earlier this summer we here at the radio station have been asking you to do one very important thing. That thing has been made even more important in this most unusual year's 2020. We have simply asked you to register to vote for the upcoming November 3rd election.

Your final opportunity to take care of that simple task will expire at the close of business today. Fortunately, you can still register to vote online. Actually, that's the only way you can register to vote. Today is the deadline for voter registration through the Secretary of State's voter portal.

All you need to do is log on to GEAUX VOTE dot com. That website will direct you through the registration process. While you're visiting you can also pick up some interesting information about the candidates and issues that face your local area.

Sure, you'll have the Presidential candidates on the ballot but there are a lot other important races as well. In Louisiana, we'll be choosing a United States Senator, and of course, every two years we vote for members of the House of Representatives.

The Secretary of State's Geaux Vote Portal also provides sample ballots for where you live. You can simply input your location and the site will generate a sample ballot that is specific to where you vote. This will give you more than a few days to look into each candidate and their stance on issues of importance.

You can also preview the always confusing constitutional amendments. Those are usually written in such a way that only legal scholars can understand them. Fortunately, there is a place where you can read about and learn more about those issues in plain English.

Regardless of your political affiliation or preferences, we want you to register to vote and we want you to cast your ballot. It seems like such a shame when less than 50% of the people living in our state and our communities make the choices for 100% of us. You need to be heard. Register to vote and get that done today.
