The Lafayette Parish School System has released some important information for students and parents regarding the school year, school lunches and more.

LPSS says that all Louisiana Public Schools still remain closed through April 13, 2020. They will send an update should that change.

Due to the possible lack of internet or computers for some students, LPSS says that there will be no required "assignments, quizzes, or projects/etc. issued to any LPSS student"

Below is the full statement from lpssonline.com.

While students are out of school, Lafayette Parish School System will offer student meals at the locations listed below. Meals will be offered to any child age 18 and under regardless of whether they are a Lafayette Parish School System student. Pick up times are 9:30a.m. - 1:00p.m., Monday - Friday. In an effort to ensure educational equity across our district, there will be no required assignments, quizzes, or projects/etc. issued to any LPSS student. Due to the lack of internet or home technology for many students, distant learning is not an equitable option for our district. Families are encouraged to contact your child’s teacher who can suggest optional learning resources to students. Teacher email addresses are available on individual school websites. For a school website directory, visit www.lpssonline.com and click on the “Schools” tab. We know that optional learning resources will not take the place of regular classroom instruction. Such resources are meant to supplement student learning at home.

We will continue to answer the questions that you have. In some instances, we can provide answers quickly. Because of this unprecedented situation, some questions may take staff a bit longer to answer. We remain in communication with LDOE and other state authorities for guidance. We have created a FAQ link www.lpssonline.com/COVID-19FAQs where families and students can submit questions related to this school closure.

As we remain mindful of the concerns of our students and their families, we will continue to update information as frequently as possible.
