A homeless man who was convicted in the death of 86-year-old Irene Schoofs will not get a new trial.

State District Judge Glennon Everett rejected 46-year-old Willie Robertson's request for the new trial.

Robertson requested the trial on several grounds, including ineffective assistance of counsel and not having access to a fingerprint expert among other issues.

Court records show 86-year-old Irene Schoofs suffered a fatal heart attack when encountering Robertson burglarizing her home after she returned from a trip to the store.
