Man Dies After Walking Into A Roadway

Louisiana State Police says that a 92-year-old man was killed while walking down a road.

Trooper Brooks David says that 27-year-old Corey Jackson was driving down Highway 182 just before Highway 358 when 92-year-old Dale Britt of Opelousas walked from the edge of the roadway into the southbound lane of the highway.

Jackson ran over Britt, and he was pronounced dead on the scene by the St. Landry Parish Cororner's Office.

David says that Jackson was unable to avoid the crash. Jackson was buckled up, and he only received minor injuries.

Trooper David says impairment is not considered to be a factor in the crash, and troopers say Jackson wasn't impaired.

The crash is still under investigation.
