‘Mind Over Metal’ Coming To Heymann
UpStage is bringing an incredible show to Lafayette: "Mind Over Metal - The Aluminum Show"!
October 25 at the Heymann Center, showtime is 7:30.
This tour is a new version of the Aluminum show, blending arts, music, mystery, magic with trips to the hardware store and the fabric shop! Get ready to laugh, dance, sing and stare in wonder as inanimate, everyday objects come to life, creating a futuristic world in the mind of the audience.
“The Aluminum Show is an exciting display of imagination that literally reaches out to the audience. There are so many different types of shows that come to our theaters and arenas; however, there’s nothing quite like this.” - Jacqueline Lyle, UpStage’s creative director.
The show is suitable for all ages, and tickets are available through all TicketMaster outlets and online at TicketMaster.com.
In association with the Freetown Studios, Downtown Alive! and Basin Arts, UpStage has organized an aluminum-inspired costume contest and public art competition. Anyone can participate in the creative event, including artists, school groups and other creative types.
The aluminum costume wearers will gather at Downtown Alive! on October 21 at Parc International, where a panel of judges will award first, second and third place prizes in two categories, individual and group. Costumes can be constructed of any type of aluminum or aluminum-appearing fabric, including aluminum foil, mylar, silver lame’, air conditioning duct and more. Artists can elect a model to show off his/her/their artwork or wear the costume themselves onstage during the break when the winner will be selected. Commercially-acquired costumes are discouraged. Recycled materials are encouraged.
