Minden Couple Found Dead After Apparent Murder-Suicide

Tragic story out of Minden. A local businessman, and his wife were found killed in apparent murder-suicide. Carroll Toms, local business man in Webster Parish since 1979 was found dead with his wife in their home Tuesday morning

Evidence at the scene indicates that 86-year-old Carroll Howard Toms fatally shot his wife, 80-year-old Glenda Swain Toms, then turned the handgun on himself, Police Chief Steve Cropper said.

Their deaths were reported by an employee of Toms who became concerned when he failed to show up for work Tuesday morning at the business on Shreveport Road in Minden.

The worker, who had a key to the Toms home, attempted to call Toms then went to their home to check on them about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday. That’s when she discovered Toms and his wife dead and called 911.

Their bodies are being sent to out of state for autopsies.
