Louisiana’s Farewell To Shentell Brown After Her Tragic Death
In Louisiana, family and friends of an assistant district attorney for the 16th Judicial District Court were in attendance as the woman was laid to rest in New Iberia on Friday, February 21.
On Sunday evening, February 9, Shentell Brown was driving her vehicle down Johnston Street in the 2100 block when something unbelievable happened. Lafayette Police Department officials say Brown was shot multiple times by her husband while driving. The husband, Kevin Brown, then turned the gun on himself.
The two children in the vehicle got out of the car, and one was hit by a vehicle while fleeing the terrifying violence inside the car, the other was able to flag down a motorist who brought them to the police station.
Shentell Brown is the mother of five children. In addition to her children, Shentell left behind her parents, Michael and Velma Walker, three siblings, nieces and nephews, along with coworkers and friends who all cherished and loved her.
KLFY reports that on Friday, the family and friends of Shentell gathered at Highland Baptist Church in New Iberia for her funeral. Later, she was laid to rest. Brown's mother, Velma Lee Walker, says her daughter was a loving woman who would do anything she could to help people.
Shentell worked in the juvenile non-support division. Walker said
She was somebody out there really looking out for everybody’s children,” Walker said. “It didn’t matter who you were. She’d just surround the community and it’s just a blessing, a joy from God to see what joy she brought to everybody in this world.
