Morgan City Man Arrested After Running From Police

A call to a truck stop ends in a police chase.

John Sonnier with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office says a deputy went out to the Bayou Vista Truck Stop early Saturday morning to see what was happening. When the deputy got there, a security guard said Jonathan Lewis of Morgan City had locked himself inside the bathroom.

The deputy says Lewis then tried to run away, pushing the security guard down in the process, but was caught after a brief foot pursuit.

Lewis has been charged with Simple Battery and Resisting an Officer with Force. Lewis has been booked into the parish jail with no bond at this time.
