Movie Trail to be Tourist Attraction for Louisiana Visitors
The Bayou State is home to the production of many famous movies and television programs, and the state wants to make it easier for tourists to scope out where those films were shot with a movie trail. Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser says it’s a big visitor draw for the state.
"People come to New Orleans because of NCIS: New Orleans. The Essence Festival had a record crowd because of Girls Trip. People want to go where movies were shot," says the Lt. Governor.
Nungesser says the movie trail will showcase locations from both modern and classic films.
"We'll absolutely highlight all those hot movies that are coming out, or have recently come out, and we'll also talk about the historical movies," says Nungesser.
Nungesser says a recent study showed nine percent of visitors were heavily influenced by something they saw on television or in a movie.
"That's a little over five million people each year, and a $1.3 billion economic impact to our industry in Louisiana," adds Nungesser.
