Nearly $2 Million Paid To Louisiana Exonerated Prisoners
Wrongfully convicted prisoners have been paid nearly $2 million dollars from the state after being vindicated of their crimes.
And now, compensation for them is going up. Under a new law, exonerated prisoners will be eligible for up to $25,000 a year for each year in prison, with a cap of $250,000. It's a bump from the previous rates paid - but it's nowhere near among the generous laws in the nation.
