New Lafayette City and Parish Councils Are Set
It’s been a year since amendments to the Lafayette home rule charter were approved by voters and with yesterday’s vote a key requirement has been met. The charter amendments created two individual 5-member councils for the city and parish of Lafayette. Three of those seats went to run-offs which were decided last night.
Additionally, there are only four “incumbents” from the current consolidated council: Liz Webb Hebert, Nanette Cook, Pat Lewis and Kevin Naquin.
Here are the complete councils which will be sworn-in in January.
Lafayette City Council
District 1 - Pat Lewis
District 2 - Andy Naquin
District 3 - Liz Webb Hebert
District 4 - Nanette Cook
District 5 - Glenn Lazard
Lafayette Parish Council
District 1 - Bryan Tabor
District 2 - Kevin Naquin
District 3 - Josh Carlson
District 4 - John Guilbeau
District 5 - Abraham “AB” Rubin
Republican Josh Guillory beat Carlee Alm-Labar to be the next Lafayette Mayor-President. He has agreed to a weekly call-in segment on KPEL’s Acadiana’s Morning News with Rob Kirkpatrick and Bernadette Lee.
