Who’s Qualified For Races In Lafayette Parish?

Qualifying for political offices has opened across the state of Louisiana.

Here in Lafayette Parish, there are several races that people are taking an interest in.

The job of Lafayette's Mayor/President is up for grabs after incumbent Joel Robideaux announced he will not be running again.

The following candidates have signed up to run for the seat:

• Carlee Alm-Labar
• Simone Champagne
• Josh Guillory
• Carlos Harvin
• Nancy Marcotte

When it comes to the new council seats in Lafayette, there are five city council seats that are up for grabs. The following people have qualified:

City Council District One:

• John Ford
• Pat Lewis
• Mark Pope
• Sarah Gauthier Roy
• Matthew Sias Jr.

City Council District Two:

• Bruce Conque
• Andre "Andy" Naquin

City Council District Three:

• Elizabeth W. Hebert
• James Noriega

City Council District Four:

• Nanette Cook
• Joyce Linde

City Council District Five:

• Janet Jackson
• Glenn Lazard
• Lionel Rodriguez
• Lionel Rodriquez
• Aaron "The Fixer" Staten

When it comes to the parish council, the following people have qualified in these districts:

Parish Council District Two:

• Kevin Naquin (Incumbent)
• Ted Richard

Parish Council District Three:

• Josh Carlson
• Mike Davis

Parish Council District Four:

Parish Council District Five:

• Abraham "AB" Rubin Jr.

Qualifying happens today (Tuesday, August 6), tomorrow (Wednesday, August 7) and Thursday, August 8.

When qualifying for office in Lafayette Parish, you do so at the Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court's Office at the parish courthouse.

The deadline to qualify is Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
