The Leadership Institute of Acadiana has announced the people who will be participating in the 34th class of Leadership Lafayette.

This program that was initiated in 1987 as a way to help prepare professionals in our community to seek out leadership roles in the community in the future. The training process is one that is geared at learning about their community, leadership and getting involved with community initiatives.

As you can see by the names and organizations listed that the individuals included in this year's Leadership class cuts across a cross section of the community.

Through an eleven-month program, each person will start to understanding the interworking of local government, they will find out about the benefits of further community involvement, how to serve in a public capacity, and the class fosters the honing of leadership skills for participants.

Leadership Institute of Acadiana Executive Director Ashely Mudd says,

The Leadership Institute is proud to announce the selection of thirty-two resilient and dynamic leaders for the 2021 program year. We live in complex and challenging times and strong local leadership has never mattered more.

These are some of the areas that the almost year-long program will focus on:

  • City and State Government
  • Economic Development
  • Arts and Culture
  • Social Services

Mudd adds,

In 2021, participants will experience a hybrid program focuses on local assets and challenges. These shared experiences will transform individual participants into a network of leaders prepared to shape our community's future.
