New Virus Testing Sites Open in New Orleans as Cases Surge

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — More coronavirus testing centers have opened in New Orleans. The city has become a hot spot for the virus. Tests began Friday at two new drive-thru sites in the parking lots of a local theater and a university arena. New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell's office says these centers initially are open only to health care workers and first responders showing symptoms consistent with the virus' COVID-19 disease. State figures show nearly 500 people in Louisiana have tested positive, more than three-quarters of them in the New Orleans area. Ten Louisiana residents have died.
