New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has too much money and too much time on his hands!!  First he wanted to ban trans-fats, then he wanted to ban salt on food and now he wants to ban sales of sugary drinks over 16 ounces!

Bloomberg wants to ban soft drinks and other sugary drinks in an effort to combat obesity.  This would be the first-in-the-nation ban of sweetened drinks larger than 16 ounces sold in restaurants, movie-theaters, sporting events and street carts.  His proposed ban won't apply to diet sodas, fruit juices, dairy drinks or alcoholic beverages.

Bloomberg said yesterday that he thinks,

"it's what the public wants the mayor to do."

WHAT!  I think the voters in New York want him to solve some of the city's real problems like crime, poverty, fraud, potholes or traffic.

Mayor Bloomberg is sounding more and more like European royalty of yesterday.  He thinks he knows what's best for the "people" and gosh darn it he's going to inflict it on them whether they want it or not!

I think you can educate people about health problems and suggest things, but you can't and should not attempt to legislate healthy habits.  So Bloomberg, you ban drinks larger than 16 ounces I'll just buy two 16 ounce drinks and that way we'll have twice the amount of plastic to recycle.

In my opinion Mayor Bloomberg is just another out-of-touch politician with too much money and too much time on his hands.  Go solve problems your constituents really want solved.
