Northwestern State receives an early Christmas gift. An anonymous alumnus has donated just over one-million dollars to the Natchitoches school. Its the largest gift in the institution's 126-year history. Northwestern State University President Randall Webb says he's very appreciative of the pledge. Webb says half of the donation will go towards academics and the other half will go to the athletic department. He hopes this donation will encourage others to give to the university. University officials say the donation will be used to pay for scholarships, faculty enhancements and to improve facilities. Webb says this generous gift comes at a time as the university struggles with
state budget cuts.
