Authorities are investigating the illegal dumping of oil in Jefferson Davis Parish.

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality says that five 55-gallon drums of used oil and diesel fuel were thrown into a ditch. Two of the drums had been dumped, along with about six buckets of an unknown oily substance.

The parish's public works department is trying to contain the oil, which DEQ says could affect crawfish farmers.
