State Fire Marshal Butch Browning announces a campaign aimed at getting

working smoke detectors installed in as many Louisiana homes as possible. Browning says "Operation Save A Life" will help raise awareness and educate residents about fire danger and the necessity of smoke detectors. Browning says the campaign is possible through the cooperation of all state fire departments, several TV stations statewide and fire safety equipment manufacturer Kidde. Browning says 10-year lithium battery smoke detectors will be provided free for those who cannot afford to buy them. Browning says a working smoke detector can effectively double your

chances of escaping a burning home. He says Home Depot stores across the state are teaming with his office and local firemen to provide answers, advice and even help installing.
