Pedestrian Killed While Waiting to Cross Evangeline Thruway in Lafayette Identified
32-year-old Tiffany Myers of Lafayette has been identified as the victim in the fatal crash. The investigation continues.
Lafayette Police say a person is now dead after being struck by a vehicle while waiting to cross the Evangeline Thruway shortly before 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to a press release, the victim was waiting in the median to cross over the southbound lanes at the intersection of the 1900 block of NW Evangeline Thruway and Chalmette Road when, for unknown reasons, the driver went off the rode and struck the victim.
The driver suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The victim's identity is being withheld until next of kin is notified.
The investigation continues.
