No One Seriously Injured In Broussard Bus Crash
UPDATE: Police have announced that the driver of the school bus in Thursday morning's crash may have been driving under the influence and that the driver's story of being forced off the road was untrue.
Sheriff's office spokesperson Capt. John Babin said 50-year-old John Harvey Bernard was cited with careless operation.
The results of a toxicology test are pending.
UPDATE: No one was seriously injured during a morning crash that involved a Lafayette Parish school bus.
According to sheriff's office spokesperson Capt. John Babin, the crash occurred on La Flame Road after the bus tried to avoid an oncoming vehicle. The bus veered off the road and into a ditch, Babin said.
The driver of the oncoming vehicle was taken to the sheriff's office where he was being investigated for possibly driving under the influence, Babin said.
The crash remains under investigation.
ORIGINAL: Police are on the scene of a school bus crash on La Flamme Road in Broussard.
Police said some students were being taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The bus was reportedly taking students to Katherine Drexel Elementary School.
