It wasn't a traditional transfer of power but at least one thing remained the same.

According to Fox News, President Biden confirmed that President did indeed write him a letter before leaving the White House for the final time on Wednesday morning. Biden actually described the letter as "very generous" but stopped short of saying what was in the letter.

The president wrote a very generous letter. I’m not going to talk about it because it was private, so I will not talk about it until I talk to him, but it was generous

Biden answered the question as he signed a stack of executive orders from his new office as President of the United States.

Earlier in the day, Trump spokesperson Judd Deere told Fox that the former president left the letter for Biden in the Resolute Desk of the Oval Office. This is a tradition that started with President Ronald Reagan.

While Trump broke a century and a half tradition in not attending the inauguration of his successor, he kept with the now 32-year tradition of the departing commander in chief writing a note to the incoming president.

Former Vice President Mike Pence also left a handwritten letter for incoming VP Kamala Harris along with the latest report from the Trump administration's coronavirus task force.

Of course, the internet had jokes once they got confirmation of the letter.

Biden has stated multiple times that he isn't interested in tearing down the former President as he has many issues to handle on day one, with the coronavirus pandemic being a top priority.
