Report: Injured Saints CB P.J. Williams Will Be “Fine”
While his status for next Monday's game is still up in the air, New Orleans Saints cornerback P.J. Williams reportedly received some good news regarding his injury.
ESPN NFL Nation writer Mike Triplett reports Williams will be "fine".
Williams took a knee to the back of his helmet in the first quarter of yesterday's Saints loss in New York. His teammate Craig Robertson rushed over to assist Williams on a tackle, inadvertently slamming his knee into the back of Williams head.
Williams was knocked out, laying cold on the field while doctors and trainers tended to him. He was eventually carted off the field while players on both teams took a knee in prayer.
News of Williams expected recovery is welcoming both for his long-term future, and the Saints short-term future at cornerback.
Williams, a second year player out of Florida State, is the starter opposite Delvin Breaux. Breaux suffered a broken fibula in last week's loss to the Oakland Raiders.
The Saints cornerbacks behind Williams and Breaux on the depth chart consist of undrafted rookie free agents and recent veteran pickup Sterling Moore.
