It is a new threat for rice and sugar cane farmers.The rice borer is a moth like bug that lays eggs that hatch worms in the plants. LSU AgCenter entomologist Natalie Hummel says that it's a difficult insect to deal with. Hummel says the rice borers haven't reached the heart of rice country yet, so damages should be minimal.
