Saints Overcome Penalty-Riddled Game To Defeat The Jets
The New Orleans Saints were hoping to evaluate the players more especially those hoping to make the team when they faced off against the New York Jets. It was an ugly game penalty wise as 31 total flags were thrown which is the most flags thrown in a game this preseason. Despite the flags, the Saints were able to come away with the 28-13 victory.
The Saints were able to to get things going early as Drew Brees saw his first action in the preseason. Brees threw a touchdown pass to Michael Thomas to give the Saints the early 7-0 lead. That would be the only drive that either player would play the entire night. The Saints were able to have a 13-7 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, the Jets were able to come back and tie the game before a couple field goals and a punt return touchdown would help seal the deal and give the Saints the win. Lutz finished 4 for 5 on field goals, with the lone miss being the first of the preseason.
The Saints finished with a total of 405 yards versus the Jets 300 yards. Teddy Bridgewater had the most passing yards as he passed for 143 yards but Brees threw the lone touchdown. Dan Arnold finsihed the game as the top receiver as he caught 5 passes for 83 yards.
The Saints will have a short turnaround for the last preseason game as they face off against the Miami Dolphins Thursday evening at 7 PM.
