Saints Vs. Eagles Will Be A Historic Meeting
Both Drew Brees and Nick Foles went to Westlake High School in Austin. But there's more to it than that.
The meeting between the New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday (Jan. 13) will mark the first time two Super Bowl MVP's from the same high school have faced each other in the NFL playoffs.
The divisional round of the playoffs came easily for the Saints as they came out on top of the NFC and therefore earned a first week bye through the wild card round. For the Eagles, that was a different story. They ended the season with a 9-7 record and barely squeaking by the Chicago Bears after a missed field goal by Bears kicker Cody Parkey.
Brees and Foles did meet in the playoffs back in 2014, with the Saints coming out on top of that game 26-24. Foles had yet to get to the Super Bowl much less get that Super Bowl MVP title.
The two quarterbacks are 10 years apart, with Drew Brees graduating from Westlake in 1997 and Nick Foles in 2007. Brees led the high school football team to a state championship in 1996, while Foles brought the team to the state championship game, only to fall in the finals.
Kick off for the Saints vs. Eagles game is 3:40pm this Sunday, January 13th.
