More than two months after a six-year-old was killed in a school bus accident, his parents have filed wrongful death lawsuits against the Lafayette Parish School Board and bus driver Harold Thibeaux.  6-year-old La'Derion Miller died from head injuries on March 14. He was waiting with a young relative, who safely boarded the bus. When La'Derion attempted to enter, sheriff's deputies have said the door closed, his jacket became caught in the door of his school bus and he was dragged down Duhon Road.

No criminal charges have been filed in the accident.

Lafayette Parish School Board spokeswoman Angie Simoneaux says that Thibeaux has been on leave with pay since the accident.
