NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The two children most seriously injured when a car slammed through a schoohouse wall remain hospitalized.

Children's Hospital spokesman Chris Price says a 10-year-old boy was in intensive care in critical condition Thursday and a 9-year-old girl in stable condition.

Col. John Fortunato, spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, says two other 10-year-old boys and two girls, ages 8 and 6, were taken to other area hospitals after the accident Wednesday morning.

All six attend Stepping Stones Montessori School, a private school in the New Orleans suburb of Terrytown. Fortunato says a mother dropping off a child at the school apparently stepped on the gas when she thought she was braking in a parking spot just outside the wall.
