Lafayette Citizens Create Shrine For Roadkill on University Ave [PHOTO]
Who did this?
I see a lot of bizarre things on the roads in Lafayette and Acadiana, but what I saw this week on University Ave between Lafayette and Carenctro is atop the list.
While traveling north on University Ave, heading towards Carencro, a balloon on the shoulder of the road caught my attention.
As I approached the balloon on the side of the road, I noticed that the balloon was attached to something that was on the road.
Well, while I was about 10-12 feet from the balloon, I noticed that the balloon was tied to a dead animal, that was located on the shoulder of the busy roadway.
On the balloon, that was tied to the dead animal, it read, "Get Well."
Now, let's fast forward 10 hours into the next day, a photo of the dead animal was sent to me and as you can see below, a card was added to the sight where the animal died.
It's as if someone created a shrine for this animal, and now I want to know who did this.
While some on social media may find this to be disturbing, some say at least the person paid his or her "respects" for the roadkill near Lafayette.
Here's the photo of the "shrine" from North University Ave this week. Let me point out here that when I saw the balloon tied to the animal it was fully inflated, but in this photo, it had already started to deflate!
Surprisingly, this is not the first time we see folks leave balloons or cards with dead animals on the roadway.
Remember these moments?
