Some good financial news is coming for students at South Louisiana Community College this Fall.

SLCC will begin participating in both the Direct Loan and Federal Work Study Programs through the Department of Education to give them more options to fund their education.

Dr. David Volpe, vice chancellor for Student Services says,

"Many students, whose expected family contributions make them ineligible for the Pell Grant Program, could benefit from additional forms of financial aid. We're adding these options to assist students with reaching their educational goals."

The Federal Work Study program allows students to work an on-campus jobs if they need money to attend school.

All students will be able to check out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, found at www.fafsa.ed.gov which will allow the school to see who if eligible for financial aid and how much.

SLCC already participates in:

  • The Federal Pell Grant Program
  • National Guard tuition exemption program
  • Department of Veterans Affairs assistance
  • TOPS Scholarship Program
  • Americorps payments
