SLCC Receives Accolades
South Louisiana Community College recently received some good news from Chronicle of Higher Education's Almanac.
The publication places SLCC among the top 20 facilities in the country showing growth when it comes students being able to earn an associates degree.
Dr. Natalie Harder, the Chancellor SLCC had this to say about the publication's news for SLCC,
"With nine campuses in our region, SLCC is able to bring college programs to area hometowns. Our students are able to study close to where they live and work. I believe the enrollment increase reflected in this ranking is indicative of area residents taking advantage of our offerings and following their dreams of earning a college degree."
The Chronicle looked at all enrollments between the years 2006 and 2016.
Natalie Harder says,
"We're seeing an increasing number of students eager to get ahead. This includes both those that want to continue their college journey to a four-year degree and those that want short-term training that gets them quickly into the work force. We also have a commitment to our communities to offer programs that lead to high-wage, high-demand careers that can sustain our students' families and fill our region's workforce needs."
Harder says their programs are becoming more and more popular, and the proof is found in their enrollment numbers. There was a twenty percent growth in the amount of students taking classes this summer.
