The President of the Louisiana Senate, today, made the call for a Special Election to fill State Senate seat 22. 

Troy Hebert resigned the seat to become the head the Alcohol and Tobacco Control Board.Louisiana Senate President Joel Chaisson issued a proclamation calling a special election to fill the District 22 Senate seat vacated by former District 22 State Senator Troy Hebert, who recently resigned to take on new responsibilities as the state's alcohol and tobacco control commissioner. The primary election is set for Saturday, January 22, 2011 with the general election scheduled for Saturday, February 19, 2011. Qualifying for the District 22 seat begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday, December 15th and ends at 5 p.m. Friday, December 17th.    Senate District 22 consists of parts of Iberia, Lafayette, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes. The Senate will maintain the district office to serve the needs of constituents until the vacant seat is filled.
