(Baton Rouge, LA)  --  Hundreds of students and educators from around Louisiana traveled to the State Capitol today where they held a rally to protest 34-million-dollars in spending higher education budget cuts.

And, there are indications the budget axe will swing even more next year when the legislature convenes.  Governor Jindal recently slashed the state budget by an overall 100-million-dollars to offset a similar deficit.  He says that higher education needs to do a better job with fewer taxpayer dollars.  Louisiana's graduation rate is 38-percent compared to a national average of 53-percent even though the state ranks ninth in higher education spending.
