The barricades are going up along the Lafayette parade route this week.

As we ramp up the Mardi Gras celebrations around Acadiana, Lafayette needs to make preparations for one of the biggest carnival season traditions: Barricades.

Every year, it's the sign that Mardi Gras is officially here.

Lafayette Consolidated Government has released the Mardi Gras barricade schedule for 2022.

Some say this is the true kickoff of Carnival season in Lafayette.

Mardi Gras is pretty much in full swing, and that means it's time for the barricades. The City of Lafayette has just released the barricade schedule for Mardi Gras 2018.

With Mardi Gras fast approaching, this is the week that Lafayette Consolidated Government employees will put up barricades along the parade route.

DOTD called the construction company doing road work in the area to remove the blades.

Approximately 5,500 barricades will be deployed by crews.
