Mardi Gras is pretty much in full swing, and that means it's time for the barricades. The City of Lafayette has just released the barricade schedule for Mardi Gras 2018.

Barricades will be placed to allow for turning lanes and major cross-overs along Johnston St. and N. College Rd.

Lafayettela.gov says the Lafayette Police Department "will close all streets on and around the parade route one hour before the parades begin. All streets will remain closed until the completion of the last parade. No streets will be open until all citizens have been removed from the area and vehicles are able to travel safely."

Public Works will be placing roughly 5,500 barricades along the Lafayette Mardi Gras route.

Thursday, Feb. 1, 8 a.m. - Public Works crews will commence placing barricades at the start of the parade route beginning at the intersection of Jefferson and Simcoe Streets, then along the parade route to the intersection of Johnston and Vermilion Streets.

Friday, Feb. 2, 8 a.m. - Public Works crews will resume placing barricades from the intersection of Johnston and Vermilion Streets along the parade route to the intersection of Johnston St. and N. College Rd., near the Albertson's shopping center, then along N. College Rd. to Cajun Field at Gate 1 at Reinhardt Dr., headed towards Congress St.
