A project to overlay 13 miles of Interstate 10 in Lafayette and St. Martin parishes is expected to begin by the end of 2013. Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development officials say the estimated $76 million project is the largest on their 2012-2013 proposed priority list for the Acadiana region.
Tolls could likely generate enough revenue to pay half the cost of completing Interstate 49 through Lafayette, enough to make the long-delayed project economically feasible. That's according to a consulting firm hired to research the project.
