New Speed Limit On Stretch Between Opelousas and Shreveport

The speed limit on I-49 for about a 200 mile stretch is now 75 mph instead of 70 mph. The change of the speed limit is due to the Department of Transportation and Development proving that a speed limit increase could be done safely. They proved this by showing that 85% of drivers were going 75 mph or less. The DOTD says there are no plans to raise the limit elsewhere.
