Winter weather across north Louisiana has caused at least one traffic death and closed schools, government offices and two highways.

State police say a 30-year-old Monroe woman died Sunday in a single-vehicle crash on an ice-covered interstate highway.

Trooper Cordell Williams says Kaneshia Logan died when her SUV slide down an embankment and hit a tree on Interstate 20 near Dixie Inn in Webster Parish.

Sunday's mixture of freezing rain and snow caused officials to close a number of parish school systems and several universities.

Troopers say Interstate 220 and Interstate 49 from La. 526 to I-20 in Shreveport are closed.
