(KPEL-FM)Can you believe football season for the Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies has been over for more than two months? Okay, much longer for the Aggies, and I don't think the pro team in Dallas ever started the season, did they?

And since football ended in Texas portions of the Upper Texas Coast have had to dig out from a historical snowstorm. We have celebrated Mardi Gras, and in San Antonio, they are getting ready for March Madness basketball.

CSU predicts 17 named storms. Nine of those 17 named storms will strengthen to hurricane status. Four of those storms will likely become Major Hurricanes, in other words reaching Category 3 status or stronger.

The good news, according to CSU is that this season doesn't appear to be as active as last season was. Sea surface temperatures are down compared to last year too. But as you read on, remember this is a long-range preseason forecast so the opportunity for error is quite large compared to what we are used to seeing with tropical forecasts.
